Dennis Roger Cloutier, age 78, a resident of Washington, NC, died Thursday, March 13, 2025, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 21, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Greenville and will be officiated by Father James Magee.
Dennis was born in Lewiston, ME and grew up in Hartford, CT. Upon graduation from high school in 1964, he immediately enlisted in the US Navy, training and serving seven years in the nuclear Submarine Service. After his discharge he married the love of his life, Marilouise LaBarre. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati while maintaining his civilian career in the machine tool industry, working 29 years for Cincinnati Inc. as a service rep, district service manager and Product Safety consultant. He also represented the company in the development of ANSI and international safety standards for the industry. He retired in 2002 to begin his own safety consulting company and to continue his work with safety standards. In 2005 he was presented with the Distinguished Service to Safety Award by the National Safety Council. In 2014 he and Marilou retired to North
Carolina where he enjoyed boating, building, and the camaraderie of good friends. He was a member of the Old North State SubVets Base where he was chairman of the “Kaps for Kids” program to bring smiles and submarine stories to hospital-bound children. Throughout his life his greatest loves were God, who guided and protected him, Marilou, his family, his career of service, and the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his wife Marilou, his daughter Kim and granddaughter Emily of Kentucky, and his son Marc and daughter-in-law Amanda of Florida.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cloutier, his mother, Alice Cloutier, his brother, Charles Cloutier, and his brother-in-law, Mil Dube.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
