Driver transported by air to Chapel Hill after colliding into bridge

From North Carolina State Highway Patrol
On Tuesday, March 18, at approximately 12:45 p.m. the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a single vehicle collision on NC 92 just east of US 264. A 2011 Chevrolet van was traveling west on NC 92 crossed the centerline and collided with a small bridge.
After colliding into the small bridge, the Chevrolet van overturned and caught on fire. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and was pulled out by an unknown witness. The driver was transported by air (Lifeflight) to UNC Burn Unit in Chapel Hill. The passenger was able to exit the van and escaped with no injuries.
