K-9 Tinnus continues his recovery journey after sustaining a break to his left front leg while training with his handler in 2024.

Tinnus continues to deal with pain in his front leg.  Under veterinary guidance, to solely focus on his recovery, Tinnus’ training has been suspended.  Sheriff Scott Hammonds continues to communicate with veterinary staff on Tinnus’ condition and the recommended path forward.

Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has continued to build up the Patrol K-9 Program by adding K-9 Mya to the team.  Mya is a full-service K-9 assigned to Lieutenant Greg VanEssendelft.

With Mya in place,  Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office continues to provide K-9 Coverage to all patrol shifts.  Sheriff Hammonds looks forward to the expanding the program in the future to have 24 hour K-9 coverage for Beaufort County.
