At approximately 2:12 p.m., first responders were dispatched to a report of a vehicle colliding with a house on Hwy. 171 in Washington.
The vehicle and house were both on fire when first responders arrived on scene. The cause of the collision is unknown at this time, pending investigation.
Personnel from Old Ford Fire Department, Washington Fire/Rescue, Bear Grass Fire, Griffins Township Fire Department, Beaufort County Emergency Services and North Carolina State Highway Patrol were involved in the response.
Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. One person was in the house at the time of the incident; that person received treatment on scene for minor injuries and was not transported.
While first responders were on the scene of the fire, a log truck rolled into a ditch across the street from the affected residence. No injuries were reported from that incident. That incident is also under investigation.
