Tonie Claire (Thompson) Marshall, 74, of Swan Quarter, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Tonie Marshall was born to George Norman and Edith M. Credle Thompson on October 18, 1950, in Belhaven, NC. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.
She focused her life on faith and family and spent a great deal of time caring for others. During her thirty-seven years as a social worker, she worked in various counties, mainly with the County of Hyde. One of her greatest joys was her church, Calvary Presbyterian, where she was a lifelong member, taught Sunday School and served on the church Elder Committee for many years.
Tonie was a graduate of East Carolina University, class of 1972. Her servant’s heart led her to participate in various community activities that were dear to her.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Calvary Presbyterian Church. Rev. Spottwood Graves will officiate. A visitation with friends will follow the service.
A private inurnment will take place at the family plot in Soule Cemetery.
Tonie is survived by her loving husband, Sam S. Marshall, her son Barrett Marshall and wife Mallori, of Belhaven, three grandchildren whom she adores: Thompson Koy Marshall, Huxton Richard Marshall, and Grifton Rye Marshall, a brother, Dennis Ray Thompson (Debbie) of Swan Quarter, and a sister, Donna Thompson Spencer (Patrick) of Swan Quarter, and various nieces and nephews that thought of her as a second mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Ryan Thompson Marshall and her brothers Norman Allen Thompson and Mark A. Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4131 Quarter Road, Swan Quarter, NC 27885.
