Spring means the running season is in full gear.

We have a lot of runners in Beaufort County. All ages compete in events not only here but in neighboring counties like Pitt, Craven, Martin and Lenoir.

Recently, the 5th annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K and Pub Crawl was held in Washington. It was the first race of the 2025 season and is a prelude to at least seven others that will be in Washington, Aurora and Terra Ceia between now and early November. That’s when the race schedule typically begins to wind down.

The next race on the schedule is the Exodus Run 5K/10K, which will be on April 19 starting at 8:30 a.m. at 119 E. Water St. in Washington. Registration is going on up until the start of the race and is $25 plus a $3 sign-up fee for the 5K and $35 and a $3 sign-up fee for the 10K.

The event goes toward helping F3 Washington, with all proceeds going to the local District 2 recovery courts. The race details at RunSignUp.com describe recovery courts as “an intensive, judicially supervised court intervention that targets individuals involved in the criminal and juvenile court systems with a substance use, mental health, or co-occurring disorder.”
