Washington historic homes open to the public this weekend with Preservation NC “Ramble On”

Preservation North Carolina invites history and architecture enthusiasts to a one-of-a-kind exploration of Washington, North Carolina, on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Known as “Little Washington,” this coastal town boasts a stunning collection of historic homes and buildings, and now you have the opportunity to explore the town at your own pace!
Preservation NC’s Washington Ramble is a self-guided tour of more than 15 historic properties, including some which are protected by PNC’s covenants. Tour sites will include a diverse mix of commercial spaces and private homes, making this event a must for those who appreciate the beauty and stories of North Carolina’s architectural heritage.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
·       10-11 AM: Guided Orientation Tours ($10 add-on ticket) – Kickstart your day with expert-led walking tours. Choose from three fascinating themes:
o   Residential Historic District Focus with Stephen Farrell
o   Downtown Business/Commercial Waterfront Focus with Ray Midgett
o   Green Book Tour highlighting safe havens from the Jim Crow era with Leesa Jones (Tours are exterior only and limited to 20 guests per group.)
·       11 AM – 4 PM: Self-Guided Washington Ramble ($50 ticket) – Immerse yourself in Washington’s past as you explore historic homes and landmarks at your own pace.
·       4-5 PM: Exclusive Reception (included with Ramble ticket) – Wrap up your day with a delightful gathering at a private historic home, where you can mingle with PNC staff, volunteers, and fellow history lovers over light refreshments.
