Almost 2,000 customers were without power after an incident caused an outage in the eastern part of Beaufort County Monday afternoon, according to a Facebook post by Tideland Electric Membership Corporation.

“Tideland must take an emergency power outage starting at 3:45 pm today,” the post read. “The outage will impact 1,877 members on the Sidney, Gaylords Bay and Pamlico Beach circuits. The outage is expected to last 30 minutes. Outage cause: someone dropped a tree on our three-phase line.”
