Josephine “Jo” Elizabeth Watson, age 81, a resident of Washington, NC died Monday, April 21, 2025, at home surrounded by her children and siblings.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday April 25, 2025 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Jo was born in Beaufort County on January 10, 1944, to the late Theodore Roosevelt Watson and Lucy Elizabeth Garris Watson. She attended Bath High School. Jo was a seamstress at Sampson Shirt Factory and worked as a cashier. She loved her yard, enjoyed gardening, cooking, resale shopping and was devoted to her children. She was a member of Palmetto Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Gregory Dean Wallace of Washington, Brandy Lewis of Washington, a grandson, Clifton Lewis of New Bern, two brothers, William Watson and wife Sandra of Pinetown, Franklin Watson and wife Viva of Washington, a sister, Brenda Godley and husband Ronald “Pee Wee” of Washington and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a son, Billy Lewis, three brothers, Theodore Roosevelt Watson, Jr., Willie Watson, Lindsey Watson, and three sisters, Minnie Ann Watson, Anglet Watson, and Betty Jean Watson.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 33, Washington, NC 27889.
