Northside recognizes basketball, wrestling awards; Summerfest golf event coming to WYCC

Northside High School recently recognized its top athletes in basketball and wrestling during an awards ceremony.
Among the basketball winners were head coaches Jared Adams and Michelle Leathers, who were recognized as coaches of the year in their sport. Awards were given for top players on offense and defense. All-Coastal Plains Conference honors were also passed out in basketball.
In wrestling, top honors were given out in several categories, while three teens were recognized as all-conference.

WYCC holding Summerfest event
The Washington Yacht & Country Club will hold its 2025 Golf Classic Summerfest event on June 6-8.
Registration is now open through May 31 to participate in the men’s tournament and the ladies’ tournament. Registration is $175 for members and $275 for non-members for the men’s tournament and $85 for members and $100 for the ladies’ tournament.
The men’s tournament is a 2-person Texas Scramble. It will run June 7 and 8 at 9:30 a.m. both days. The ladies’ tournament is a two-person Superball over 18 holes. It will run on June 6 starting at 9 a.m.
There will also be an evening of events on Friday and Saturday. The cost is $200 for members and $250 for non-members.
