Winchester — Debra Sebastian, 73, of Winchester, VA—formerly of Washington, NC—passed away on May 14, 2025, surrounded by love and laughter. True to form, Debby met her final chapter with the same humor, stubborn optimism, and generous spirit that she carried throughout her life.

Born and raised in Wilkes County, NC, she was the mischievous, middle child of the late Warren and Agaline Sebastian. She is survived by her sisters Sue Bullis and Lynne Lewis.

Debby leaves behind her life partner of over 50 years, Danny Leggett; her daughter, Mia Leggett Dezura, son-in-law, Timothy Dezura; and her grandson, Benjamin Dezura. She also leaves her two dearest friends, Linda Weathersby and Sue Woodson, who were family in every way that counts.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Blue Ridge Hospice for their exceptional compassion and care, which made Debby’s final weeks full of dignity, comfort, and a surprising amount of laughter.

In honor of Debby’s belief in education and opportunity, the family is establishing the Sebastian-Leggett Endowed Scholarship at Beaufort County Community College, supporting first-generation college students.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations in Debby’s memory be sent to: Beaufort County Community College Foundation at 5337 US Highway 264 East, Washington, NC 27889.

At Debby’s request, no service will be held.
