Visiting any day is hard enough for my son living in Durham. He has a full time job, a wife and four kids, but my son visited me last Sunday on Mother’s Day. He had planned to see his mother but she was in Maryland. Tracey had fixed a roast for dinner.
I got to spend time with my son, Will, which I needed more than anything. We sat on the front porch just he and I and just talked. We watched the movie Conclave that night and ate our roast.
We got up and went to Shep’s for breakfast, first thing in the morning and Shep didn’t disappoint me.
We had the usual crowd; Jack Mitchell, Carl Jones, Larry Jones, Shady Brantley and Bill Outland. Earl McKissick had to leave early and Harold Byrd came in later. Those two I wanted him to meet. I had been telling him about the breakfast club for some time . We discussed politics and Bill Outland kept him in stitches with his lies. Jack Mitchell kept him going and Carl kept Jack going., All in all , we had a very enjoyable visit.
Bill Outland kept his promise and told about Will ‘s educational influence as to his knowledge about Bill’s storytelling.
That was a weekend I will never forget. To have Mother’s Day and your son visit you is a good thing. He even stayed the night with us. He left after breakfast and headed to Morehead City for a meeting later that day. It was a great visit! I love my children.
They were the best of times with the best friends and the best places,Washington NC. The Original Washington!
