A Memorial Day salute

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Coach Wagner did not believe in throwing the football! He said only two things can happen when you throw a forward pass; you get intercepted, or you can throw for a loss.

He stuck by running the ball 90 percent of the time. I remembered that the whole time I was coaching.

He remembered it except for two quarterbacks, Dick Cherry and Ward Marslender. He let them pass whenever they wanted to. Ward could do no wrong. Whatever Ward did, he won. Playing pool, playing marbles, regardless of the sport, Ward won. Coach Wagner fought in WWII and he fought a battle every Friday night. He was a veteran too.
.
To all the veterans regardless of what war you fought for, Happy Memorial Day. They should be gathered at Veterans Park to be saluted. To any veterans who fought for freedom for the USA, I salute you too.

To the men that sit at my table in the morning; Shady Brantley, Larry Jones, Carl Jones, Bill Outland, Ronald Alligood, Charlie Alligood and Jerry Alligood we salute you and thank you for helping to keep our freedom, that you fought so hard for.

They were best of times with the best of friends and in the best of places, Washington , NC. The Original Washington!
