Taylor Healy cruises to victory in Aurora Fossil Festival 5K

AURORA, N.C. — Taylor Healy of Chapel Hill cruised to the victory in last Saturday’s Aurora Fossil Festival 5K Run.

He completed the race in 15:20.39 to distance second-place runner, Aaron Cahoon of Vandemere, who finished in 17:17.73. Edgar Muro of Oriental was third at 17:35.49 with Colby Sherman-Smith of Kinston fourth at 17:40.67 and Joaquin Mendoza of Ayden, who was fifth in 18:47.26.

Coby Alligood of Blounts Creek was the first Beaufort County runner to cross the finish line, placing sixth in 19:11.41. Kristin Farthing of Martinsburg, WVa., was the winner on the women’s side, finishing eighth in 19:24.49.

Northside High School cross country and track coach Casey Schulte was among the top performers, finishing first in the female 30-39 age group in 27:26.03.
