Two Washington High School athletes picked up postseason honors from the Eastern Plains Conference.
Sophomore Sonti Small was named EPC girls’ soccer player of the year. Senior Micah Whitley was named boys’ tennis player of the year.
Whitley returned to playing tennis for the Pam Pack and quickly achieved success. He won the EPC singles title after beating teammate Gabe Niederhauser in the conference final.
He qualified for the individual regional and state tournaments. Washington reached the second round of the Class 2A dual team playoffs, falling to Clinton.
Small was part of a Pam Pack team that reached the third round of the Class 2A state playoffs for the first time since the 2014 team went to the state final. Washington finished 15-3-1 overall, 9-0-1 in the EPC. The Pam Pack won the league title, too.
Small finished with 13 goals and two assists.
