Peggy Virginia Peele Waters, age 90, a resident of Washington, NC went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home and will be officiated by Rev. Gillian Pollock. A burial service will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be G. Keith Waters, Ty Little, Eugene Meekins, Maddox Meekins, Nathan Waters and Derek Stewart.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2025 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
Mrs. Waters was born in Beaufort County, NC on September 2, 1934 to the late William G. and Carsie Rascoe Peele. She was a 1952 graduate of Washington High School and then went on to graduate from East Carolina University, earning her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Peggy was an elementary teacher in Belhaven, Pantego, Pinetown and Washington City schools. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Washington and a proud member of the Red Hat Society. Peggy also volunteered at Vidant Beaufort Hospital, earning the Volunteer of the Year award.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Ray Waters (Katie) of Cary, Gordon Keith Waters (Cindy) of Greensboro, daughters Katrina Lynne Little (Ty) of Washington and Katherine Yvonne Waters of Washington, daughter-in-law Pat Waters of Washington, grandchildren Michelle Hill, Macree Stewart, Carsie Story, Zoë Meekins, Nathan Waters, Savannah Waters, Jonathan Waters, JJ Jefferson and Robbie Jefferson, great-grandchildren Amber Hill, Maddox Meekins, Aislynn and Layla Story, Maisie and Shelby Stewart, Jason and Arthur Jefferson, Elizabeth and Zachary Jefferson, sister-in-law Geraldine Waters, nieces Valda and Tracy Belyeu, nephews Tom and Ben Waters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Waters, a son William Michael (Dinky) Waters, an infant daughter Deborah Faye and her sister Patricia Belyeu.
