Filing for municipal elections begins July 7

Thinking about running for an elected office in your city or town? As of Wednesday, June 18, You have 19 days to decide. Filing for this year’s municipal election begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 7.
Filing lasts until 12 p.m. on Friday, July 18. It costs $10 to file and payment must be made in the form of a personal check or cash. Candidate forms can either be brought in or filled out at the Beaufort County Board of Elections office at 1308 Highland Drive Suite 104 in Washington (behind ECU Health Beaufort).
“Notaries are available at the Board of Elections office for filing. Forms may also be completed, notarized, and mailed to the Board of Elections Office but must be received in the Board of Elections office by noon on the last day of filing,” Beaufort County Board of Elections shared.
This year’s municipal election will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
