Angier man arrested on felony drug and gun charges

On June 6, 2025, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Akeim Raquon McCray of Angier, NC on multiple felony drug and gun charges. This arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting multiple controlled buys of fentanyl from McCray.
As a result of this investigation, Investigators located and seized approximately 21 grams of fentanyl and a .40 caliber handgun.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 2 milligrams of fentanyl is considered to be a lethal dose. This seizure by Deputies is enough fentanyl to potentially kill over 10,000 people.
29-year-old Akeim Raquon McCray of Angier, NC was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under no bond for the following charges:
(2) counts of Trafficking in Fentanyl
(2) counts of PWISD Schedule II (Fentanyl)
(1) count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
(1) count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
(1) count of Driving While License Revoked
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to work to identify and address the problems created by dangerous illegal drugs being sold in Beaufort County. Sheriff Hammonds continues to work with his staff, surrounding law enforcement agencies, and public partners to reduce the effects of deadly fentanyl in Beaufort County through enforcement, public awareness, and education.
