Joy Harrison Rodman, age 91, of Washington, died July 1, 2025 joining her late husband Googie on his birthday.

Services are pending.

Joy was born and raised in Plymouth, NC June 19,1934 to the late Neva and Henry Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband Wiley Croom Rodman III, her daughter Laura Williams Terry, her sister Jeanne Weaver, and her brother Buddy Harrison.

Joy was a graduate of Plymouth High School and attended Salem College in Winston-Salem. She was a housewife and worked at BHM Library for a short period of time. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her time working in her yard, Reviewers Book Club, and Pine Needles Garden Club.

Mourning her loss are her daughter Kathryn Carter and husband Ric Carter, her grandchildren Matthew Williams, Sarah Williams, Emily Carter and wife Megan Littrell, Elizabeth Carter and husband Chris Carter. Joy will be missed by many nieces especially Nona Joy Weaver Elliott, nephews, and great grandchildren, and her trusted puppy dog Suzannah.

The family would like to especially thank her caregivers, Sandra Keech, Janice Floyd, Lillie Brimage, Elisha Morris, and Ann Gibbs. Gentiva Hospice has supported her family, and we are appreciative of each of them, especially Damaris and Shareka.
