May Beaufort County Athletes of the Month

Below is information from Beaufort County Schools Athletic Director Keith Mitchell about the April Athletes of the Month, who were recently recognized at the Beaufort County Board of Education meeting.

Beaufort County Schools recognized the top athletes from May.

Those recognized included Southside’s Carolina Crisp and MyQuan Clark, Northside’s Samantha Braddy and Tyler Radcliffe and Washington’s Micah Whitley and Emma Orr. Below is the information that was read during the Beaufort County Board of Education meeting to recognize each of the athletes.

Note: This is the last series of top athletes that will be featured until the board meets again in September.

 

Washington

Female Athlete of the Month for is senior Emma Orr

For the last four years, Orr has been a standout on the softball diamond. When you look at this year, not much has changed. She led the Lady Pack back to the state playoffs while leading the team in batting average, home runs, hits, runs batted in and all pitching categories. She struck out over 800 batters for her career at WHS to add to her accomplishments. Orr has signed to play softball at Virginia Wesleyan University next year.

Male Athlete of the Month is Micah Whitley

Whitley is a senior on the Pam Pack men’s tennis team and is ranked as the number one player. Whitley has demonstrated his ability to adapt and conquer all challenges in his way this season. His overall record this year is 10-3 and most recently at the Eastern Plains Conference tennis championship, Whitley was able to win the individual tournament and was named the conference player of the year. Whitley has now competed in the regional individual tournament as well as the state finals.

Southside

Female Athlete of the Month is junior Carolina Crisp

Crisp is a great athlete who works hard on and off the field. She spends many days and hours on her own training to be the best softball player she can be. In the first 11 games, Crisp struck out 61 batters and only walked 19. She is in the top three in all of the stats for the team. Not only is Crisp working hard to be a great softball player, she is also working hard to be a great student. She currently has a GPA better than 3.0 and is a leader inside the classroom.

Male Athlete of the Month is senior MyQuan Clark.  

MyQuan is a dynamic athlete who excels in track and football. As a sprinter, he has consistently demonstrated incredible speed and work ethic, making him a standout. But his talents don’t stop there. Clark also made an impact on the football field, where he was the leading rusher. He also leads by example both on and off the field, showing his teammates what it means to be dedicated, disciplined, and hardworking. His commitment to excellence has earned him the respect of his coaches and peers alike.  

 

Northside

Female Athlete of the Month is senior Samantha Braddy

Braddy has demonstrated remarkable resilience and talent across multiple sports. A standout on the women’s golf team, she earned a spot as a state championship qualifier, showcasing her skill and dedication. Though her senior softball season was cut short due to injury, Braddy remained a committed leader and supporter of her teammates from the sidelines. Her impact on the program continues, and her athletic journey is far from over. She will be continuing her softball career at Montreal College this fall. Braddy exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship and the spirit of a true student-athlete.

Male Athlete of the Month is freshman Tyler Radcliffe

Radcliffe is a standout golfer at Northside, quickly making a name for himself in his first year on the varsity team. With a smooth swing, calm demeanor under pressure, and impressive course awareness, he has shown exceptional promise. This season, Radcliffe achieved a remarkable milestone with a hole-in-one during a tournament at Washington Yacht & Country Club on the 10th hole, using a 6 iron from 185 yards out. This rare accomplishment not only showcases his skill but also highlights a bright future ahead in competitive golf.
