Tropical Depression Chantal has made for a messy weekend for baseball in Chocowinity.

The District 6 tournament, which has teams from all over Eastern North Carolina in play at the Chocowinity Recreation Complex, had originally been announced as postponed to Tuesday due to the wet weather. Heavy bands of rain have fallen in the town and other parts of the area as the storm has moved ashore.

Sunday evening, officials said they will try to get games in on Monday and updated the schedules on the recreation department’s Facebook page.

The Area 1 Junior American Legion baseball tournament is also scheduled to begin on Monday at Chocowinity Middle School. No announcement has been made about that schedule. Beaufort County is scheduled to face Ahoskie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a game vs. Wilson and Raleigh slated for after.
