John James “Jimmy” Bullock

Mr. John James “Jimmy” Bullock, 73, of Stokes, died Monday, November 26, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 PM at Pinewood Memorial Park.

A native of Pitt County, Jimmy was a graduate of Stokes Pactolus High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the N.C. Highway Patrol after 38 years of service as a communications officer. Following his retirement, he was an avid golfer and member of the Williamston Lions Club and the Roanoke Country Club.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, John Murphy and Mattie Briley Bullock; and sisters, Mattie Jane Barnhill and Joyce Marie Bullock.

He is survived by his brothers, William Kenneth Bullock and wife, Jeena, of Grifton, Nicky Kyle Bullock, Sr. and wife, Theresa, of Washington, and Barry L. Bullock and wife, April, of Stokes; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Barry Bullock.
