Mr. Henry Burrus Bland, age 59, a resident of Greenville, NC left us peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, November 27, 2012, in his much loved home.
Hank was born in St. Petersburg, FL on July 25, 1953, son of the late Henry Ford Bland and the late Grace Burrus Bland. His early rural years were spent growing up between Beaufort County and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Before his retirement he was employed in the restaurant business on the beaches of Nags Head, North Carolina. He loved Beaufort County and all the isles en route to Cape Hatteras. He enjoyed visits to the family and relatives along the ocean, driving his little red truck many miles, many weekends, to celebrate his family.  Hank was an angel in our midst. His many health sufferings assured him influence as a prayer warrior for his entire family. His last farewell was a smile, a high five and “I’m fine and I’ll see ya tomorrow.” His last request was for himself, a sweet potato please, that he was craving.  His request for you is that, “When you think of me… remember, I was a good man. I love Jesus and I love you.”
He is survived by his beloved cat, Maxi; a brother, Wiley R. Bland and his wife Marilyn of Billings, MT; a sister, Deanna Pitts and her husband Jim of Ogden, UT; cousins of the Outer Banks, NC and numerous loving nieces and nephews from Alaska to Utah to Montana.
He will rest beside his parents in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, NC.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date.
Condolences may be offered by visiting www.paulfuneralhome.com.
Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve the Bland family.
