Roxanne “Sissy” Swanner

Roxanne Gabriel “Sissy” Swanner, age 21, a resident of 129 Clifton Meadows, Washington went to be with the Lord Monday May 6, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Wake County.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Friday May 10, 2013 at Long Acre Chapel Christian Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Marc Swanner and Thelbert Leggett.  Virgil Toler, Jack Swanner, Kenneth Keech, David Moore, Kevin Respass, Dennis Respess, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

Roxanne was born in Pitt County on May 3, 1992, daughter of Allen Garfield Swanner, Sr. and Susan Elizabeth Respass. She earned her letter as a freshman in track at South Brunswick High School. To letter in any sport as a freshman was a very special honor.  “Sissy” as she was known by her family and friends loved frogs, bears and sunflowers. She loved the beach, being outdoors and was very close to her nieces and nephews. “Sissy” was a student at Beaufort County Community College and worked at Blackbeard’s, her family’s business.

She is survived by her father: Allen Swanner of Washington; her mother: Susan Respass Mallory and husband Doug of DeLand, FL; her brothers: Allen Swanner, Jr of Washington, Walker Mallory of DeLand FL and Adam Miller of Denver, CO; her sister, Sadie Miller of DeLand, FL; her paternal grandparents: A.G. and Linda Swanner of Washington; her maternal grandparents: Travis and Elizabeth Respass of Long Acre; her aunts: Tammy Swanner Moore and husband Jason of Washington; Renee Swanner Toler and husband Rudy of Washington; Heather Swanner of Washington; Jennifer Respass Rea and David Moore of Pinetown; her nephews: Talen Graye Swanner; her nieces: Taylor Mackenzie Perry and Denise Nicole Tolan of Washington and her cousins:  Arin Lynn Swanner, Riley Renee Toler, Lindsay Rea Davis and husband Craig all of Washington and John Swain, III of Long Acre.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday May 10th at the Family Life Center at First Church of Christ. The church is located across from Paul Funeral Home & Crematory at 520 East 10th Street, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Roxanne Swanner Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 1465, Washington, NC  27889.
