Hilda Lewis Oxford

ELON — Mrs. Hilda Lewis Oxford, 87, 117 Woodale Drive, Elon, died at her residence on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 4:05 p.m. following a prolonged illness.

 A native of Washington, NC, she was the wife of 65 years to the late Ralph Holland Oxford and the daughter of Lonnie and Katholeen Lewis, both deceased. Hilda and her husband owned and operated Oxford Equipment Company in Burlington for 40 years. She was a member of Elon Community Church for over 60 years and active in national and community organizations including past Treasurer of the Women’s Division of the United States Chamber Of Commerce and a long standing  member of the Elon Garden Club where she held many offices.

 Survivors include two sons, Dr. Gerry S. Oxford  and wife Beverly of Indianapolis, IN and Barry Kendall Oxford of Carrollton, GA; four grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Oxford of Los Angeles, CA, Graham Lewis Oxford of New York, NY, Brian Stewart Oxford of Raleigh, NC and Emily Catherine Oxford of New Orleans, LA; and a sister, Hazel Lewis Scott of High Point.

 A private service will be held for the family.
