Katie Mae Avery and Timothy Steven Luther were united in marriage on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the home of John and Glenda Winfield, Winfield Estates, Pinetown. Mr. Jay Martin officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Velvet Avery and the late Kirby Avery of Washington.  She is the granddaughter of the late Joseph and Katie Coburn and the late Edna Mae Roberson, all of Washington.  She graduated from Northside High School in 2012 and plans to attend college in Spring .

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Little of Zebulon, NC and Timothy John Luther of Hilton Head Island, SC.  He is the grandson of Charles Harrell, Sr.  of Faison, NC and Mr. & Mrs. John Diener of Lawrenceville, GA . He is employed with BFPE International.

Escorted by her mother, Mrs. Velvet Avery, the bride wore a strapless ivory dress with beaded bodice, lace overlay and train with a short ivory veil with beaded edges and cowgirl boots. Her bouquet of sunflowers, daisies and greenery was bound with twine at stems. She wore her late grandmother, Katie Coburn’s Dinner ring.

Maid of honor was Samantha Beirne of Belhaven.

Bridesmaids were Samantha Miller of Maryland and Nicole Roux of New York. Junior bridesmaids were Jaydan Roberson and Kyndall Seger of Belhaven, and Mary Kate Roberson of Evans, GA. Kaydence Wingate of Greenville was flower girl, all cousins of the bride. Bridesmaids wore knee length strapless kelly green dresses. Junior bridesmaids and flower girl wore white dresses. Bridesmaids carried sunflower bouquets.

Best man was Timothy John Luther, father of the groom.

Groomsman was Cooper Greer of Belhaven.

Braiden Luther, son of the Groom was ring bearer. Groom and groom’s son wore tan tux with camouflage ties. Best man and groomsman wore tan tux with kelly green ties.

The bride’s mother wore a full length champagne dress with beaded bodice.

The groom’s mother wore a knee length teal dress.

Bride and groom chose to tattoo ring fingers with each other’s first initial.

The bride, groom and groom’s son celebrated with a Unity Sand Ceremony.

Mistress of Ceremony was Mrs. Shannon Blackstone.

Registry attendant was Joseph Roberson and program attendants were Ian Roberson and Charles Roberson, cousins of bride, of Evans, GA.

Wedding music was provided by Butch Oliver – DJ.

A reception was held at The Wilkerson Center in Belhaven.  Tables were decorated with kelly green and white tablecloths. Lighted Mason jars with burlap bows filled with sunflowers and daisies on a burlap square accented each table. Windowsills were adorned with magnolia leaves. Ferns accented the reception area. Catered by Country Kitchen of Bath. A three tier white cake with sunflowers was served by Genevieve Gillis and Shana Parker. Sandy Deans served beverages. A memory table was set up in the foyer of reception for bride’s father, Kirby Avery.

A rehearsal cookout was held at the home of John and Glenda Winfield.

Pre-wedding parties included a wedding shower on July 28, 2013 at  Athens Church of Christ in Bath hosted by the ladies of the church.

Following a wedding trip to Kerr Lake, the couple will reside in Louisburg.
