PANTEGO — All was quiet in Pantego during Election Day.

That is part of the town’s appeal, said Commissioner Chad Keech. He and candidates Mart Benson (incumbent), Reid Michael Gelderman, Robert Edwards (incumbent) and Chuck Williams ran unopposed for the five seats on the Board of Commissioners

Stuart Edwin Ricks, a former commissioner, was successful in his unopposed bid for mayor.

Gelderman and Williams will serve on the Board of Commissioners for the first time.

Williams, a bank vice president, was “coerced” into running for the open seat. As his first town meeting approaches, he is glad he was coerced.

“I just look forward to working with other council members to better our community,” he said.
