CHARLES B. HARDY

March 16, 1940 – April 13, 2014

 

Mr. Charles Blount Hardy, age 74, a resident of 1400 Woolard Road, Washington, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  Levie Hardy, Scott Hardy, Gentry Earl Elks, Jimmy Elliott, Gray Thomas Elliott, and William B. Alligood.

Mr. Hardy was born in Beaufort County on March 16, 1940.  He was the son of the late Dock Oliver Hardy and Inez Boyd Hardy.   Mr. Hardy was a retired farmer.  He attended Snow Branch Church of God.  In his spare time, Mr. Hardy enjoyed riding his golf cart around, looking at his horses and cattle.  He loved his children and grandchildren.

On May 27, 1961, Mr. Hardy married the former Nancy Jane Hull, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are his children, Charles “Allen” Hardy and wife Donna of Washington, Libby Hardy Manning and husband, Lee of Bethel, James “Blount” Hardy and wife, Adrianne of Washington, “John” Fred Hardy and wife, Melissa of Washington; seven grandchildren, David Allen Hardy, Jenna Leigh Hardy, Katie Elizabeth Manning, Nicholas James Manning, Makayla Morgan Hardy, Jackson Blount Hardy, Sidney Cheyenne Hardy; two great grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Gaskins and Ethan Allen Crisp; and two sisters, Reatha Hardy Elks of Washington, Julie Hardy Smith and husband, Jesse of Washington.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by three sisters, Mavis Hardy Manning, Iola Hardy Griffin, Melva Sue Hardy and two brothers, James Philbert Hardy and Levie Jerome Hardy.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.
