Charles B. O’Ham age 80 of Elm City, NC passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 peacefully in the midst of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Kugler O’Ham; sons, Rocky P. O’Ham and Jeffery K, O’Ham.

He leaves behind his wife, Joyce Lucille of 56 years; daughters, Glenda Anderson (Benny) of Kinston, NC, Lesa Leonard (Jordan Winstead) of Sharpsburg, NC; sons, Ben T. O’Ham of Wilson, Charles D. “Chuck” O’Ham of Washington, NC; grandchildren, Danny Wallace, Dawn Maynard, Scott Anderson, Devin O’Ham, Jay Leonard, Rocki Leonard, Tyler Leonard, Beth O’Ham, Tyson O’Ham, Ferne O’Ham; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Louise Slade, Dorothy Womble, Faye Toler; brother-in-law, Dallas Toler; and many nieces and nephews.

He was raised in Blounts Creek, NC. He served two in a half years in The 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. Then he worked for Cargill, transferring across the states. In 1975 he settled in Wilson, NC as a maintenance supervisor in North & South Carolina. His health forced him to retire in 1999. He made many friends locally and in his travels.

Visitation will be 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home and other times at the home, A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 7, 2014.  In lieu of flowers the family requests monetary or blood donations to the American Red Cross Blood Bank 100 N.
