CONTESTANTS: The annual Young Miss Independence Pageant, sponsored by the Belhaven 4th of July Celebration Committee, will be held at the John A. Wilkinson Center on Wednesday, July 2 at 6 p.m. This pageant, consisting of young ladies between the ages of 12 and 14, will feature competition in evening gowns and they will be judged according to on-stage questions pertaining to personal information about themselves as well as their interests. In addition to the on-stage questions, they will be judged according to patriotic wear and fitness. The winner will receive a $100 savings bond.
