The Down East Seniors Club held their September 3 meeting at the Blind Center of NC in Washington. President John Tunstall led the meeting. Jim Hackney played for the singing of “God Bless America”. Ed Sample gave the invocation and Dick Paul provided humor.

Program Chairman Sam Price introduced John Rodman, Director of Planning and Development for the City of Washington. Mr. Rodman told about the Wayfinding project that the city and a committee of volunteers have been studying. The objective of this project is to provide signs that will help visitors to the city find their way to all the public locations within the city. Primary and secondary sign locations have been determined. After public input, a sign style was selected. An inventory of current signs has been completed. A study is now being made to determine new signs needed and the cost of them.

Stewart Rumley reported that the DSS needed volunteers to deliver meals to shut-ins the fourth Thursday of each month. Anyone interested in doing this is to talk to or email him.

Dick Paul won the 50/50 drawing.
