COY “HOOVER” ALLIGOOD

Coy “Hoover” Alligood, age 85, a resident of 648 Mill Hole Road, Washington, NC, passed away Monday September 8, 2014 at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Alligood Cemetery officiated by Tony Krantz. The family will receive friends at the home at 648 Mill Hole Road, Washington, NC.

Mr. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on October 11, 1928 to the late Charlie Thomas and Eva Woolard Alligood. On August 28, 1949 he married the late Annie Lillian Cutler who passed away March 26, 2005. He was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ. Hoover began farming at a young age and later joined the N.C. Department of Transportation where he worked for 35 years. He loved gardening and fishing but always put family first.

Survivors include two sons, Alan Lane Alligood and wife Cindy Rae of Mt. Olive, and Charlie Oden Alligood of Pinetown, three daughters, Teresa Amelia Freeman and husband “Bully” of Washington, Derise Lillian Regal and husband Jason of Washington, Kathy Lynn Lilley of Washington, a daughter-in-law Cindy Lou Alligood of Washington, a brother Joseph T. Alligood of Washington, three sisters, Louise Marshall of Tallahassee, FL, Thelma Picard of Washington, Sybil McInturf of Harrisonburg, VA, a special niece and caretaker Barbara Mooring, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren expecting the 15th in March and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Kermit Gene Alligood, and two brothers, John Edward Alligood and Swindell Alligood.
