BCAC and ECU partner to present Theatre for Youth Showcase

The Beaufort County Arts Council and ECU School of Theatre and Dance will partner to present a Theatre for Youth Showcase and workshop. “Stories From Afar” will be presented at the Turnage Theater on Nov. 1 and curtain time is 2 p.m. Tickets for the production are $8 general admission and can be purchased at the BCAC box office or by phone at 252-946-2504. Tickets will also be available at the door beginning an hour and a half before curtain.

The showcase will include four stories from around the world, and are suitable for ages from kindergarten through adult. Featured are such tales as, “The King with Horses Ears,” and “The Jewel Heart,” and many colorful characters such as Professor Pond, Horace and Borace will certainly keep the attention of the young and young at heart. The performance will last approximately an hour.

At the conclusion of the production, audience members can meet and greet the cast, and children and youth are invited to take part in a short after- the- play workshop writing their own original play!

“We are excited to be able to work with ECU to present live theatre for children at the Turnage,” said BCAC Executive Director Joey Toler. “This is the first of several collaborations we have planned with ECU School of Theatre and Dance.”
