VERNON RUSSELL LANE

March 9, 1960 – Nov. 16, 2014

 

Vernon Russell Lane, age 54, a resident of N. Main St., Farmville, NC and a former resident of Washington, NC, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014. Vernon was born in Bethel, NC on March 9, 1960 son of the late William Dalton Lane and Norma Knox Lane who survives. After graduation from Roanoke High School, Vernon attended Basic Law Enforcement Training and had a 30 year career in law enforcement. He was married to Melanie Susan Cratch Lane of the home.

In addition to his wife and mother, Vernon is survived by his daughters, Mattie Lane of Washington and Kelley Massinon of Fredericksburg, VA; his brothers, Doug Lane of Sims, NC and Chris Lane of Williamston, NC; his sister, Becky Lane of Robersonville, NC; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC. There will be a private burial at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Vernon’s memory to the Mattie Lane Educational Fund, 7695 US Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC 27889.
