JAMES R. ADAMS

June 1, 1942 ­– Nov. 14, 2014

 

James R. Adams, passed away while in hospice care on November 14, 2014 at approximately 12:36am. He was born in Pinetown, NC on June 1, 1942. James received his education from Mt. Olive Junior College 1960-62, Atlantic Christian College, 1962-64 BS in Biology. University of Washington summer 1967, and Wake Forest University summer of 1968-69. He taught at Wiley Jr. High School, 1964-66, Mount Tabor High School, 1966-1994, post retirement Winston-Salem Forsyth County Central Office, Mail carrier 1994-2014. James was a member of the NEA, NC Education Association, Class Room Teacher Association, Mt. Olive College Alumni Association. He received honors from the Lions Club Scholarship, Belhaven NC, Outstanding Sophomore Mt. Olive Junior College 1962, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company Scholarship 1967, National Science Foundation Cooperative Science Program 1968, Physics Institution Scholarship National Science Foundation 1969, Outstanding Young Men of America Publishing in 1969, Outstanding Young Educator, Winston-Salem Jaycees 1970. He was preceded in death by his father Daniel James Adams and mother Mary Jackson Adams. He is survived by one brother Daniel Gray Adams and two sisters, Retha Adams Price and Lou Adams Skinner; eight nephews and nieces; eleven great nephews and nieces, and six great, great nephews and nieces. The family would like to give a special thanks to friends and caregivers; Bridgette Crawford, Charles Duggins, Bob Patterson, and David Sturdivant.  No services are scheduled at this time.
