GEORGE BURCH MITCHELL

Jan. 18, 1931 – Nov. 25, 2014

 

George Burch Mitchell 83, of 314 Hoggard Mill Road, died Tuesday November 25, 2014 at Vidant Bertie Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Bertie County January 18, 1931 to the late Patrick Hartwell and Elizabeth Leggett Mitchell Sr. He was proceeded in death his brother Pat Mitchell and sister Ruth Barnes.  Mr. Mitchell work for Ramsey Lumber Co as a sawyer. George loved being with his family. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and the last surviving charter member. He served in the US Army.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday November 28, 2014 at Edgewood Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Lee officiating the services. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include; his wife of 63 years,  Anne Burch Mitchell; son Kip Mitchell of Windsor; daughters  Nita Gurkin and husband John of Williamston, Kimberly Mitchell of Windsor; one grandchild Liz White and husband Josh.

The family will receive friends from 10 till 11:00 Friday November 28, 2014 one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial gifts may be given to Edgewood Baptist Church, 348 US 13 North, Windsor, NC 27983.
