WILLIAM R. JACKSON SR.

May 22, 1941 – Dec. 9, 2014

 

Mr. William Russell Jackson, Sr., age 73, a resident of 789 S. Asbury Church Road, Washington, NC, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Oakdale Cemetery conducted by Steve Hill. James Cherry, Phil Garris, Earl Godley, Willie Godley, Steve Hodges and Wesley Williams will serve as pallbearers. Tucker Jackson, Miller Jackson, Tim Evans, Rodney Keech and Jamie Pollard will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Jackson was born on May 22, 1941, in Beaufort County to the late Charles Macon Jackson, Sr. and Ethel May Hardison Jackson. On December 11, 1970, Mr. Jackson married Frances Elizabeth Edwards Jackson, who survives. He attended schools in Washington and worked his entire life in the upholstery business. Mr. Jackson owned and operated Russell’s Seat Cover and later worked at Fountain Powerboats. Mr. Jackson was a hard worker, who enjoyed his grandchildren, as well as boating and fishing. Mr. Jackson had attended Ware’s Chapel United Methodist Church in past years.

In addition to his wife, Frances, Mr. Jackson is survived by his children, William “Rusty” Jackson and wife Wendi and their children, Kaylee, Brittany, Tucker and Miller all of Washington, NC and Connie J. Keech and husband Joey and their children J.C., Reid and David of Washington, NC, a great grandson, William Reid Keech, two nephews, Chuck Jackson and wife Melissa and Chris Jackson, two nieces, Wanda Woolard and Carolyn Burbage and husband Rodney.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jackson is preceded in death by a sister, Ethel May Chancey and a brother, Charles Marion Jackson, Sr.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 1:00p.m.-1:45p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, William “Rusty” Jackson and wife Wendi at 122 W. 11th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
