GLADYS LOUISE BATEMAN HAMILTON

July 21, 1935 – December 27, 2014

 

Mrs. Gladys Louise Bateman Hamilton, age 79, a resident of Lovers Ln., Washington, NC, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014, now in the presence of the Lord. Gladys was born in Washington County on July 21, 1935 daughter of the late Harold and Pauline Phelps Bateman. She was married to Walter T. Hamilton who preceded her in death in November 1980. Gladys was a homemaker and also the former owner of Gladys’ Gifts and Flowers and Nice As New Resale Shop.

Gladys is survived by her daughters, Linda Windley and husband Alton of Washington, G. Cheryl Wells and husband Brad of Greenville and Tammy Suozzo and husband Matthew of New Milton, WV; her sons, Michael Grimsley and wife Rebekah and Walter T. Hamilton, II and wife Cindy both of Washington; her sister, Delores B. Hudson of Washington; her grandchildren, Worth, Justin, Lauren, Adam, Thomas, Alana, Christian, Jared, Hannah and Matthew; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Bateman.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm, Friday, January 2, 2015 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Pastor Deborah Paul and Pastor Phillip Jethro. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Justin Biggerstaff, W. Thomas Hamilton, III, Adam Wells, Christian Negron, Travis Everett and Leonard Hudson will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC and other times at the home of her daughter, Linda Windley.
