Susan Benning, former director of the Beaufort Hyde Martin Regional Library System, recently accepted an award for the new library facility in Bath. Benning said she was proud to be recognized by her peers in the North Carolina Public Library Directors Association. Susan left her position at the BHM Regional Library on Jan. 23, to move closer to her daughter in Raleigh.

“It feels good to be leaving on a high note,” she said, citing recent technology upgrades and grants received by BHM.

Hannah Easley has accepted the position of Director of the BHM Library System.  Easley is a native of Charlotte and a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been the Youth Services Librarian at BHM since September of 2014, and is looking forward to building new partnerships with communities in Beaufort, Hyde and Martin counties.

“We’ve got plans to expand our outreach and Summer Reading Programs in 2015,” Easley said. “It’s going to be an exciting year.”
