MARGARET ROSS DAVIS

June 7, 1928 – January 25, 2015

 

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” Margaret Ross Davis, age 86, a resident of Bath, North Carolina passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015. She was born in Bath on June 7, 1928, daughter of the late Hugh and Katherine Tankard Ross. She was married to James Morse Davis, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1992.

Margaret worked as Deputy Clerk of Superior Court in Washington, NC as secretary to the Director of Nurses at Beaufort County Hospital and  retired from Washington Pediatrics after 18 years of service. Upon retirement, she worked as tour guide for Historic Bath Site, and later relocated to Swansboro with her son and his family.

After several years she retired to her home in Bath where she enjoyed many hours with her quilting and Red Hat Society friends. She was involved in many church /community activities and was a volunteer at Beaufort County Hospital. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed every minute spent with them.

Left to cherish her memory are son, Jim Davis; granddaughter Jamie Davis Williams (Derrick), and great grandson Gavin Williams – all of Swansboro; daughters, Pegi Davis of Emerald Isle and Bath, and Bebe Davis Major (William), and granddaughter Jamie Major – of Washington. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Pat Spivey Davis.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 29th at the Bath Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Curtis White, and Pastor Tad Tankard. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 28th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. and at other times at the home of Bebe and William Major 8353 US Hwy 264 East, Washington, NC.
