JAMES “JIMMY” LONG

Mr. James Reide “Jimmy” Long, age 65, a resident of 113 Cedar Circle, Washington, NC died Thursday April 16, 2015 at his home.

A graveside funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday April 19, 2015 at Oakdale Cemetery. Thad Leggett, Wayne Leggett, Seth Long, Sanders Long, Billy Long and Sandy Long will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

Jimmy was born in Beaufort County son of the late Elmer Reide Long and Mae Mills Long who survives. He was a 1967 graduate of Aurora High School. On November 26, 1967 he married the former Anne George Brantley who survives. In 2014 he retired from IFH of Florence, SC as salesman. Jimmy loved the game of tennis and was a dedicated UNC basketball fan who admired the late Dean Smith. He also had a special place in his heart for the mountains but he loved nothing better than family who called him Papa.

Surviving along with Jimmy’s wife Anne of the home and his mother: Mae Long of Washington are two sons: James Todd Long of Wilmington and Kevin Scott Long and his wife Christina of Charleston, SC; a sister: Dorothy Long Sykes and her husband Ralph of VA Beach, VA and three grandchildren Seth, Brantley and Sanders Long.
