PAM DAW REMEMBER WHEN: Classmates from the Pantego High School Class of 1945 gathered at Fish Hooks Restaurant in Belhaven on May 9 to celebrate their 70th class reunion. At the reunion, white tablecloths and baskets of red gerbera daisies decorated the tables. A memory table was set up with a candle, 12 yellow roses and a plaque with deceased class members. A blessing for the meal and classmates was provided by Lonnie Stokesbury, and after prayer, all enjoyed a delicious meal of their choice. All members were given a 70-year memory book by classmate Jean Gower Windley. After the meal, and throughout the evening, members shared stories and memories of school days. They also shared updates from the past year, talked about children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those in attendance were: Jean Gower Windley and daughter Pam Daw; Christine Snyder and Lonnie Stokesbury; Pauline Holcomb Griffin and daughter Suzanne Griffin Parker; Jean Lee, widow of classmate Van Lee, and her son; and Ola Dean Hodges Harris and daughter Pat Harris. A classmate that has been active in many past reunions but was not able to make this year’s reunion is Frank Allen. After goodbyes, hugs and well wishes, class members departed. For the past several years, the class has been getting together annually. Their first reunion was at 25 years.
