Mable Rivers Woolard “Mammy” Alligood went to be with her beloved husband (William Earl Alligood), mother and father (Julia Sullivan Woolard and Elmer Woolard), brothers (Elmer Woolard Jr., John Woolard and Jasper Woolard) and sisters (Dorothy Hosey, Julia H. Woolard and Gretcha Dixon) in heaven on Saturday, September 26, 2015. She is survived by her sister: Isabel W Queijo of Willamsburg VA, children: Dwight and wife Paula Alligood of Blounts Creek, Keith and wife Neva Alligood of Havelock, Cyd and husband Don Scott of Washington, NC, and Bart and wife Krystal Alligood of Apex. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Zabrina Hall, Brandon Alligood, Levi Alligood, Taylor Alligood, Aydan Alligood, David Alligood, Clay Alligood and Somer Scott; and her great-grandchildren: Bladen Alligood, Shae Alligood, Hunter Hall, Raegan Alligood, Coby Alligood, Cabella Alligood and Angelina Alligood. She cared for dozens of children in her home and was affectionately known as Miss Mable. To this day, those children are known by the nicknames Miss Mable gave them.  They still talk about their time spent with her while growing up and all the good food she cooked. She was known as Mammy by her grandkids and great-grandkids.  She also gave them nicknames such as Pecious, Tornado and Wonkus. Mammy enjoyed cooking and made sure that everyone had their favorite dishes at holidays and other family gatherings. Her unconditional love for her family will both be greatly missed and cherished forever.

The family will receive friends at the home located at 325 E. 14th Street, Washington and will be celebrating her life at her home on Saturday, October 3rd from 10:00 AM until.

The entire family would like to offer their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Zabrina “Pecious” Hall, for her tireless and unwavering devotion to Mammy over the past few years. We all love you and can never thank you enough for all that you did for her and know that you definitely have a guardian angel watching over you.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her love of children and make donations to the Ronald McDonald House, 529 Moye Blvd., Greenville, NC  27834 or any other children’s charity of your choice.
