Robert F. Gurganus Jr.

Mr. Robert Franklin Gurganus, Jr., age 68, a resident of 1035 Faith Lane, Williamston, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at Roanoke River Nursing Center.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Dolan Baker and Greg Sexton.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mr. Gurganus was born in Martin County on Aug. 7, 1947, son of the late Robert Franklin Gurganus Sr. and the late Dorothy Haislip Gurganus. He graduated from Williamston High School and married the former Helen Wright Dail who preceded him in death on April 14, 1990. Mr. Gurganus was a butcher by trade who worked at various grocery stores and was the former owner and operator of Wilmar Grocery.

Survivors include a son, Robert Keith Gurganus and his wife Becky, of Bear Grass; a daughter, Kay G. Hester and her husband Joey, of Williamston, and seven grandchildren.
