Saturday Night Jamboree’s Christmas party

Published 7:16 pm Friday, December 11, 2015

The Saturday Night Jamboree Christmas party was held recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. Registrar Carolyn Jefferson and Tillie Braddy signed in 171 clients with loving assistance from volunteers Joyce Carawan, Kaitlyn Cutler and Marlene Sprouse.

DJ Kenny Beacham played music for dancing, listening pleasure, while Keepers-of-the-Door Russell Jefferson and Swindell Braddy kept a close watch.

Following a prayer offered by Judy Hollis, members and friends of the First Christian Church (CMF) served delicious refreshments. Those helping for the evening included Pat and Pete Jones, Clyde and Mirian Roberson, Cliff and Betsy Toler, Judy and Ray Kennedy, Mitchell and Kim Woolard. They were assisted in serving by Jamboree volunteers Kin and Pat Wood, Tine Woolard, Elwood and Marlene Sprouse, Michael and Kaitlynn Cutler and Joyce Carawan.

Marlene Sprouse led the activities and the singing for the birthday greetings, and Christmas carols were led by the world’s greatest clown singer, Martha Bubbles Claus!

The group sang “Here Comes Santa Claus” to welcome a special visitor who gave the clients their Christmas gifts for being good all year.

The Saturday Night Jamboree would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers for their assistance and to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. A special thanks goes to Tim Cushion for helping with the special guest.

The next Jamboree will be held Jan. 9, 2016. All mentally/physically-challenged residents and all volunteers are encouraged to attend and help welcome in the New Year.

The Saturday Night Jamboree is a nonprofit organization and all donations should be made out to: The Saturday Night Jamboree and mailed to 410 Northwood Road, Washington, or contact Marlene Sprouse at 252-946-4350
