APPLIED SCIENCES: Students have the option to pursue a Medical Office Administration certificate during the upcoming fall semester.

New Medical Office Administration certificate available

BCCC will offer a new Medical Office Administration certificate for the fall 2016 semester. Students will have the option to pursue this certificate with online or hybrid courses.

The medical coding, billing, and insurance certificate is an earned credential that a student can build upon to earn a diploma and then an Associate in Applied Science degree.

Dr. Crystal Ange, vice president of academics, said, “This curriculum prepares individuals for employment in the growing number of medical and healthcare- related offices in our areas. This certificate will prepare students for positions in medical and allied health facilities requiring specific knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes.”

Course work may include: medical terminology; medical coding, billing and insurance; legal and ethical issues; and procedure and diagnostic coding.

Employment opportunities include positions at medical and dental offices, hospitals, insurance companies, laboratories, medical supply companies and other healthcare- related organizations.

For more information, contact Dr. Crystal Ange at 252-940-6216 or visit the website at www.beaufortccc.edu.
