Barbara Dawn Massey Crea died Dec. 7, 2002, in San Antonio, after a brief illness.
Born in Boerne on June 19, 1929, she was proud of her heritage as a fifth-generation Texan. She was a devoted member of St. David's Episcopal Church.
Babs had a keen interest in her family, her friends and the world around her, and her marvelous warmth and sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her. She faced her final days with faith, optimism and gallantry.
She is survived by: her loving husband of 39 years, Tom Crea; her adored daughter, Cary Atkins and her husband, Parker of Boerne; her precious granddaughters, Hattie Anna and Savannah Atkins of Boerne; her sister, Carolyn "Ditty" Kindervater; her brother, Charles "Tonny" Massey and his wife, Lorraine of Boerne; her nephews, Jay Kindervater and Jim Kindervater and his wife, Cheryl; her nieces, Teri Stewart and her husband, Kevin of Boerne and Melanie Kaspar and her husband, Joe, of Corpus Christi; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Walker and her husband, Al, of Corpus Christi; sister-in-law, Priscilla Goldsmith and her husband, Allen, San Antonio; brother-in-law, Robert Crea and wife, Helen, Alexandria, Va.; and many other relatives and friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Oncology Floor of the downtown Baptist Hospital and the Vitas Unit at Methodist Hospital System.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at St. David's Episcopal Church in San Antonio with Rev. Gary Lillibridge officiating. Interment followed in Mission Burial Park South.
