Mr. Robert Edward Winfield, 66, a resident of the Veterans Administration nursing home facility, Durham, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Durham.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Woodstock Free Will Baptist Church, Belhaven, with the Rev. Fletcher Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Winfield was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 26, 1936. He was the son of James Edward Winfield and the late Irene Smith Winfield. He was a 1954 graduate of the former Belhaven High School. He was an Army veteran. He was employed with the sanitation department of the Town of Belhaven. He was a member of Woodstock Free Will Baptist Church, Belhaven.
Survivors include four sisters, Ivia W. Harvey, Dora Borden and Gwendolyn John, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Patricia Winfield of Brunswick, Ga.; three brothers, James Gray Smith of North Carolina, Carl Winfield of Arverne, N.Y., and Russell Winfield of Brunswick, Ga.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jessie Lee Winfield.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Dora Borden, 3263 Creek Road, Pinetown.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
