Mr. Walter Lee Blake, 69, of 84 Beach Road, Schrams Beach, Belhaven, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003 at his residence.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with the Rev. David M. Pooser officiating. Members of the Kinston National Guard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Blake was born Feb. 22, 1934 in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Walter M. Blake and Nancy Jane Cuthrell Blake. On Jan. 7, 1959 he was married to the former Judith Ann Storm. Mr. Blake was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired Sgt. First Class with the N.C. Army National Guard.
The family will join friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, and other times at the home. Survivors include his wife Judith Storm Blake; two daughter, Cindy Blake Briggs and husband Ricky of Kinston, and Crystal Blake Hardt and husband Keith of Washington; one son, Tracy Blake and wife Kay of Grifton; three sisters, Lois Blake Kowalski of Jacksonville, Bobbie Blake Mawhinney of Jamesville, Wisconsin, and Marion Blake Stotesberry of Pantego; two brothers, Marlin Rudolph Blake of Belhaven, and Grady Blake of Pantego; and five grandchildren, Rachel Cromer, Ronnie Cromer, Houston Blake, Kristy Blake and Gunnar Hardt.
He was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Troy Blake ,and one brother, Elwood Andrew Blake.
