Joseph Merrill Harden, 95, of 809 White Oak Road, Windsor, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 at the Brian Center.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the Askewville Baptist Church by the Rev. Freddie Harris and the Rev. Frank Stansbury. Burial will follow in the Edgewood Cemetery.
Mr. Harden was born in Bertie County on May 9, 1907 to the late Joseph C. and Sally White Harden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Swano Jernigan Harden in 1993. He was a member of the Askewville Baptist Church and a farmer.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda H. Johnson and Joanna H. Hoggard, both of Windsor; two sons, Mac Harden of Windsor and Darvin Harden of Millennium; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the home. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bertie County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 74, Windsor, N.C. 27893. Arrangements are by Waker Funeral Home.
